M.E.B.S. is a 501c3 non-profit parrot rescue & sanctuary. We rely solely on private donations and fundraisers such as our Spring Meet & Tweet Fundraiser event to provide for the 150+ birds in our care. The proceeds from this event will help us cover expenses such as enclosure building & maintenance, food, enrichment, and veterinary care.
This is also a really fun event where we get to engage with our incredibly supportive community of volunteers, vendors, sponsors, and parrot owners.
Whether you come to shop from our vendors, participate in the live or silent actions, volunteer, or just share our mission with friends and family - it all helps the birds! Come support a great cause and have a day of fund outdoors at MEBS. We are located in Magnolia, TX.
Must RSVP to receive exact location address.
Parking available for FREE.
A Glimpse into the world of Magnolia Exotic Bird Sanctuary
On March 1st, 2023 we picked up 90 birds . It was a 6 hour drive from Wichita Falls to MEBS. All the birds did great on the long trip to their new home. After getting everyone in the new Make Every Bird Safe building at 7:30 PM we fed and watered everyone. They were all so happy! Tomorrow begins the transfer of the birds into their new digs. The cages they came in were too small, filthy and unusable.
Music to our ears! Enjoying a grape, maybe for the first time.
February 2023 local law enforcement and the humane society seized 400 animals from a pet store in Burkburnett Texas that were in deplorable conditions. The owner was arrested and charged.
Every dollar counts! Thank you for your support!
Magnolia Exotic Bird Sanctuary is a non profit dedicated to the rescue and protection of unwanted, abused, neglected and abandoned companion parrots in the United States.
We provide shelter, housing, education and adoption services for Cockatoos, Macaws, Amazons, African Greys, Conures and a few smaller parrots. We are life long sanctuary for the forgotten unseen parrot. We provide adoptions for the well socialized birds, emergency temporary housing for hurricane victims, fire disasters and personal disasters such as death and evictions.
Parrots can live to be 80 years old, outlive their owners and are the third most popular pet in the United States. Unfortunately they are bought in the pet market for their beauty but are the most misunderstood pet. Parrots are very intelligent, suffer grief, trauma, loneliness, boredom and when their needs are not met they begin to pluck their feathers and hurt themselves. So many are not socialized and cannot live in a home with a loving family.
Our sanctuary is the end of the road for some of these beautiful intelligent animals. Here they live out their lives with their own kind. Our oldest resident is Bob, a 57 year old Amazon, for decades he was sold over and over again. We are his 11th home and his last home. He does not have to endure any more trauma caused by humans. Now he is finally safe.
The demand for parrot relinquishment has exploded from the baby boomers that have either passed away, become ill, downsizing, tired of the challenges or can no longer afford to care for their pets.
Unfortunately we have to turn down birds every day. We are busting at the seams and it is nearly impossible for us to keep up with the demand.
Currently we have 150 parrots in our care.
We do our very best saving one parrot at a time.
We focus on education, adoption and rescue, giving all of our feathered babies a second chance for a good life.
Please support our birds by making a donation. Your tax deductible donation goes towards shelter, food and medical care.
